英検®1級の取得メリット
英検®1級は、英検®の中でも最上位の級となり、「広く社会生活で求められる英語を十分理解し、また使用できるレベル」と位置付けられています。合格率も12％程度になっており、国内最難関英語資格の一つに挙げられます。そんな英検®1級に合格すると、語学唯一の国家試験「全国通訳案内士」の1次試験「英語」の科目が免除されます。他にも公務員や教員採用試験での実技試験免除などメリットが様々です。また、英検®1級所持者の平均年収が1,000万を超えるデータもあり、大変価値のある資格となっております。今回はその1級で出題された「意見論述問題」の解説・講評をしてまいります！
難易度は「難」！Single-useを理解出来たか、強い根拠が書けたかがカギ！
今回のお題は「Agree or disagree: Governments should ban the sale of single-use plastic
products」でしたね。このsingle-useをどう解釈しましたか。これは冷静に「一回ぽっきりの、使い捨ての」という意味ですのでこの意味を汲み取ったうえで、single-useとreusableと分けて書かないと質問とずれてしまう可能性があります。さらに動詞のban（禁止）するべきという強い内容になっているため、Agreeであれば、人的被害がある、環境面で深刻な問題がある等重い内容がないと説得力が欠ける可能性があります。かといってDisagreeで書いた場合は、理由付けが難しかったと思います。（既に普及している、健康面への不安が少ない 等）
プラスチック製品の有害性はニュースで取りだたされていますので、多くの方は「Agree」で書いたかと思います。今回のモデル解答も「Agree」で書きましたのでご確認ください。なお私の場合、「海洋ごみとしてプラスチックごみが絶滅危惧種への深刻な影響」、「石油を使用して生産することで地球温暖化促進」、および「マイクロプラスチックの人的被害から新しい素材での使用・普及」の3点で記述しました。

I agree with the idea that governments should ban the sale of single-use plastic products for three
reasons, like ecological problems, environmental problems, and scientific technology.
First of all, many plastic materials can directly lead to extinction of endangered species. According
to research in Japan in 2022, about 8.3 billion tons of plastic materials, even reusable ones, have
been thrown away. Some of them are dumped in the sea, which can cause massive damage in marine life,
such as sea gulls, sea turtles, and seals. Furthermore, some people tend to illegally discard even
reusable plastic products into the sea, creating Great Pacific Garbage Patch, main cause of damaging
massive extinction in the future.
Secondly, most plastic materials have made from fossil fuels, emitting greenhouse gases, like carbon
dioxide, methane, and NOx. Research shows that about 1.5 kilograms of CO2 will be created as
manufacturers produce 1 kilogram of plastic bags, leading plastic creation to global warming in the
future.
Finally, there are many state-of-the-art products which plastic ones can be replaced in the world.
Today, many companies want to serve products with harmless containers. For example, Starbucks has been
serving plant-based straw to reduce the amount of Micro-plastic, main cause of damaging human bodies.
This straw is made from cellulose and innocent to human bodies. Therefore, governments should enact
laws to use these harmless materials.
For three reasons, I think that governments should ban the sale of single-use plastic products.（240
