UME TIMES - Summer in Blighty

Whaaat? What's Blighty?
Blighty is an old nickname that British people use for Britain.
Anyway, let me tell you about my August holiday in my country, England. My hometown is Royston, which is near Cambridge. This is Cambridge:

As usual, I went punting on the river. You have to use a long heavy pole to push the boat forwards. It's harder than it looks, but I'm a local boy and I've had a lot of practice from childhood! Beginners often fall into the river, which is always fun to watch.
I heard August was very rainy in Kansai. Bad luck! I enjoyed the typical dry and sunny weather of English summer (Cambridge has an average of 495mm of rain per year, and Osaka has 1318mm!). I also visited my older sister's house in Framlingham, Suffolk.

Later, I drove down to west England, to a beautiful area called ‘Devon’. This is the lovely port town of Dartmouth:

And, back near Cambridge, I enjoyed some delicious traditional Blighty cooking at my younger sister's house:

This is an English ‘Sunday roast’: roast beef, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, parsnips, broccoli and runner beans. And, of course, if you ever visit Blighty, you must try English beer. Here is my favourite, India Pale Ale (IPA):
